Frequently asked questions

What makes 320 MHz Skincare unique?

Transparency is what sets us apart. Each bioactive in the 320 MHz pantheon is named, sourced with full provenance, and supported by laboratory and/or clinical data. Proprietary ingredient complex names, which we could choose to use instead, obfuscate the fine detail of what is in your product. Instead, we list every single ingredient and explain where it comes from, its mechanism, and its lab or clinical results. Knowledge is everything, and transparency is how we make that possible.

How does 320 MHz formulate differently from most skincare brands?

320 MHz starts from the skin cell, not the symptom or the trend. We work from first principles, questioning industry convention rather than following it. For example, every preservation and emulsifying ingredient in our formulas is chosen for dual purpose, stability and genuine active skin benefit, not shelf life alone. Starting with the best interests of the cell in mind, as we do, changes everything downstream.

Why do I need a serum if I already use a cream?

Our serum range carries high doses of rich Omega 3, 6, 7 and 9 oils, along with specific phytoactives and marine bioactives. These are oil-serums that complement lighter cream formulations. Our lightweight creams create a fresh emulsion when teamed with either a serum or an essence in the perfect alchemy of oil and water. We call this Emulsio Natura, and it lets you be in control of giving your skin what it needs in the moment in terms of richness and nourishment.

Is 320 MHz suitable for sensitive skin?

Yes. 320 MHz is 100% natural, with no synthetic ingredients, petrochemicals or synthetic fragrance across either of its two ranges. The serum range consists of exclusively botanical oils, phyto and marine bioactives, and organic essential oils known for their soothing benefits. The forthcoming Rose Otto range uses stabilising ingredients chosen for their benefit to skin cells as well as their preservative and emulsifying function. This natural, gentle approach makes 320 MHz formulations highly suited to sensitive skin.

Is 320 MHz Skincare vegan?

Yes, all 320 MHz Skincare formulations are vegan. No animal-derived ingredients are used across either the serum or new Rose Otto ranges. Every carrier oil, bioactive and essential oil is of botanical or marine origin. The brand is suitable for vegans and does not test on animals.

Who is behind 320 MHz Skincare?

The founder and formulation architect behind 320 MHz Skincare is Paul Berrow, a British independent skincare formulator based in Notting Hill, London.

How much does stress impact my skin?

Stress has a significant impact on skin. Chronic stress disrupts its barrier function, accelerates visible signs of ageing, and is now understood to be one of the most influential everyday factors (alongside sleep and environment) in how skin looks and behaves. It's why 320 MHz treats stress as a primary consideration, not an afterthought, when formulating its products.

What is 320 MHz's promise?

We promise access to some of the most advanced precision bioactives, selected for specific skin cell support and backed by laboratory and clinical data, at an accessible price. And we guarantee full transparency, so you always know exactly what's in the bottle.

What is Emulsio Natura?

Emulsio Natura is the five-step ritual that unites our serum range of oil-based treatments with the Rose Otto range of hydrators and emulsions. It's designed as a guide to help you get the most targeted results from two or more complementary products that meet on the skin, in each case creating a fresh emulsion at the point of contact with the face.

Are your oils organic?

Excepting the Fondant cleansing oil, every oil-based active (carrier oils, essential oils, and CO₂ extracts) across our range is certified organic. It's a simple standard: if an oil sits on skin and does real work, it earns organic sourcing. Fondant Cleansing Oil has its own sourcing story, however. We chose refined oils for how they perform at the basin, offering an instant, silky transformation from oil to milk that leaves no film on the skin. The right sourcing for the job each oil actually does is an important principle we apply across the range.

Can you help with my fine lines?

Yes. Expression lines form when repeated micro-muscle contractions from everyday face movements gradually break down the structure beneath the surface of the skin, creating grooves. Stoechiol, an extract of French lavender, works like a piece of tape applied to the skin, inhibiting contractions while also helping to reinforce the skin surface and rebuild damage.

Can you help with dehydrated skin?

Yes. Skin hydration depends on retaining sufficient water between and inside your skin cells. Aquaporin channels in your cell walls act as microscopic tunnels to speed up this cellular irrigation, improving moisture levels. Hydrasalinol, an extract from a salt-marsh succulent, boosts production of these channels. It means your skin cells draw in and hold water, without having to rely on an occlusive film sitting on the surface.

Can you help strengthen my skin barrier?

Yes. Your skin's protective barrier is made up of skin cell ‘bricks’ plus a ‘mortar’ made up of ceramides, lipids and cholesterol - when that structure weakens, moisture escapes and irritants get in. AvenaPLex, a lipid complex derived from oats compatible with the skin’s lipids, supports barrier function and reduces inflammation, reinforcing the ‘mortar’ directly and helping keep the barrier intact.

Can you help with tired-looking skin?

Yes. That tired look often starts inside the cell itself, in the mitochondria (‘cell batteries’) that power renewal and repair. Ephemer, a rare marine extract, protects and re-energises those cellular power sources directly — addressing the cause of the tiredness at the root, not just concealing it on the surface.

Can you help with uneven skin tone?

Yes. Skin's own antioxidant defences, alongside topical antioxidants, protect from oxidative damage in the form of blotchy, uneven pigmentation. Arctic Lingonberry seed oil carries an exceptionally rich vitamin E complex, including gamma-tocotrienol, which is documented as sixty times more potent an antioxidant than standard vitamin E. It assists the skin in forming an anti-oxidant shield against the environmental assault that drives uneven tone.

Can you help get rid of dullness and restore my glow?

Yes. Skin radiance depends on cellular health. Mineral-depleted cells stressed by environmental assault (pollution, UV, stress) simply don't reflect light the way replenished ones do. Our Earth Marine Water, drawn from a spring of deep-sea water filtered through the ancient mineral rock of Noirmoutier Island (off the French Atlantic coast), remineralises skin more effectively than both seawater and thermal water. It revitalises cell viability and protects against everyday oxidative stress, for a genuinely radiant, more even-toned complexion.

Can you help protect my skin against pollution?

Yes. Pollution, environmental stress and UV exposure generate oxidative damage inside your skin cells, starting at the mitochondria or cell ‘batteries’. Ephemer, a rare marine extract cultured from wakame seaweed, delivers direct antioxidant protection at the mitochondrial level for genuine cellular protection against the elements. In Luminance Day Emulsion, Antileukine 6, an extract of golden seaweed, adds a second line of defence, calming the inflammatory signals that environmental stress sets off in the skin.

Can you help with loss of firmness?

Yes. Firmness depends on collagen synthesis happening continuously within your deeper skin layer, the dermis. Bakuchiol, a plant-based retinol alternative, supports that collagen-building process directly — delivering a retinol-style result (in terms of it directly stimulating collagen synthesis and inhibiting collagen breakdown) without the potential irritation.

Do your formulations support skin longevity?

Yes. Over time, skin loses density and definition. Lakesis, an active from the resin of the Mastic tree, has been shown in laboratory tests to reactivate two proteins that decline naturally from around age 30. In a 28-day volunteer study, the skin's support structure was visibly redensified, leaving skin looking more defined.

Can you help refine my skin's texture?

Yes. Skin texture depends on how efficiently your upper living skin layer, the epidermis, renews itself: as that process slows, dead cells build up, roughness increases, and pores appear more visible. Aroleat Samphira, a wax derived from rock samphire, works on the primary epidermal cells, keratinocytes. The ingredient is capable of speeding up their renewal in a retinoid-like way, smoothing and refining skin without the irritation or sun-sensitivity associated with retinoids.

Why should I use a facial essence?

Flooding skin with lightweight hydration, a near-liquid face essence is the fastest way to top up skin moisture levels and infuse active ingredients. An essence rich in bio-actives can be your light hydrator as well as protective and reparative serum in one. Rose Otto Fluid Essence provides a longevity defence mechanism built on three phases: blocking inflammatory pathways before they take hold; reducing daily environmental damage; and undoing the damage already done. Areaumat Perpetua G, from Corsican Immortelle, instantly lowers inflammation and the stress response. Pheohydrane G, a complex rich in algae extracts, interacts with the skin microbiome to support sustained hydration and modulate inflammation. Inulin feeds the beneficial bacteria present in the skin. Honeysuckle Cellular Extract works as an anti-glycation antioxidant, protecting collagen from sugar-driven damage. Roman Chamomile reduces redness, swelling and irritation. Applied in the morning to protect and evening to help heal.

Can you help support my skin's microbiome?

Yes. Your skin's microbiome is a delicate ecosystem of micro-organisms — supporting it, rather than stripping it away (which starts with a cleanser that leaves the microbiome intact), is central to lasting skin health, and therefore central to each and every one of our formulations. In the Emulsio Natura ritual, three ingredients work together to activate, feed and support your microbiota. Pheohydrane G helps the microbiome produce hydrating and anti-inflammatory compounds. Inulin serves as food for beneficial bacteria. Lactopalm PARA acts as a postbiotic active ingredient that minimises dullness and pigmentation in the skin.

Is your cleansing balm suitable for all skin types?

Yes. Rose Otto Melting Cleansing Fondant is an oil-to-milk cleanser. As it meets water, the oil transforms into a gentle milk that rinses off clean after lifting away makeup and impurities, without stripping the skin's own natural lipids. Omega-rich seed oils leave skin feeling nourished and hydrated but not coated in an oily film, making the cleanser suitable for skins ranging from very dry to oily.
